Although many of the works in this exhibition fall outside of the 15th century,it is nevertheless of interest to both the general visitor and those particularly focused upon the 15th century. For the latter group the following exhibits will definately make the visit worthwhile:
1.A portrait of Philip the Good, after a pattern by Rogier Van Der Weyden;
2.A portrait of a man by Hans Memling; and
3.A portrait of Desiderius Erasmus by Quinten Massys (the companion portrait of his friend Peter Gillis is to be found until the middle of January 2009 at the National Gallery’s Renaissance Portraits mentioned below).
While all will be deeply moved by Breugal's Massacre of the Innocents.
Lectures and Tours
More generally many of the galleries mentioned on this site organise occasional lectures and gallery tours , some of which focus upon themes and works relating to 15th Century Netherlandish Art and details of these events are usually found on their web sites.
